Do food scraps go in the garbage or compost pile?

When we know the facts, it’s an easy choice and easy to do!

Most of us put food waste in the garbage. When it’s dumped into landfills it decomposes in the absence of oxygen creating a result that is harmful to our environment. 

Compost replenishes and revitalizes exhausted soil by replacing trace minerals and organic material among many other benefits.

If you are like me and do not have a compost pile or a place for one, there are options!

More and more communities are offering composting; some schools have composting programs; check with local farms or ask a neighbor if they will let you add your food scraps to their compost pile.
